Early Career

Angel Coulby’s hard work finally paid off. Her debut role in Scariest Places on Earth was viewed in 1997. Finally, in 2001, she landed her breakthrough role of Shiv in 'Orrible. She played the role for a total of 4 episodes, which was enough to launch her career.

Over the years, Angel Coulby has portrayed numerous characters in over 35 series, as of 2019. Among them, Coulby is well known for her work in As If (2004), Conviction (2004), Vincent (2005), Talk to Me (2007), and The Visit (2007).

Films, TV series

From 2008 to 2012, Angel Coulby played Guinevere "Gwen" in the TV series Merlin. The role was perfect for her as she is an avid fan of the fantasy genre and counts Labyrinth and The Wizard of Oz among her favorites.

Speaking of her character, Gwen, she had said, “Gwen has always been a bit of a moral compass in the show. She has always done the right thing. I think the character has been quite a good role model in that sense, and she has maintained that throughout.”

She has also had the lead role as Jessie Taylor in Dancing on the Edge, in which she starred with actors Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Goodman, Matthew Goode, Anthony Head, and Jacqueline Bisset. The next ones were in The Tunnel (2013- 2018) as Laura Roebuck, as the voice of Tanusha "Kayo" Kyrano in Thunderbirds Are Go (2015- 2020).

Angel Coulby has acted in theatre plays as well. She was in 2007’s Statement of Regret as Issimama Banjoko. The play was held at the Cottesloe National Theatre and was directed by Jeremy Herrin.

Again in 2014, Coulby had the opportunity to work in 2014’s Good People as Katie. The play directed by Jonathan Kent and held at Hampstead Theatre / Noel Coward Theatre was a huge success.
