Isaac Hempstead-Wright’s birth took place on April 9, 1999, in Surrey, England. He was born Isaac William Hempstead to his mother, Helen Wright, while his father’s name is not known. He also has not shared anything about his siblings, if he has any.

The young actor was educated at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School. He had no interest in acting until he joined a drama club, just to avoid playing football during the winter season. He later studied acting at Kent Youth Theatre in Canterbury. Hempstead-Wright said in an interview,

“It wasn't like I ever said, 'I want to be an actor'. I was in the right place at the right time. I went to a local drama group because I found football on the weekends too cold - which is highly ironic because I've had some of the coldest experiences of my life filming 'Game of Thrones'.”

Isaac Hempstead-Wright joined the University of Birmingham in 2017 to study maths and music for a while before dropping out to focus on his acting career. He does plan to resume his studies after Game of Thrones has ended.

Hempstead-Wright started his career young, at the age of 11. His debut role was in the 2011 film The Awakening as Tom. The same year, he landed the role of Bran Stark / Three-Eyed Raven in the HBO hit series Game of Thrones. He portrayed the character from 2011 to 2014 and from 2016-2019.
