Jim Jefferies’ birth took place on 14 February 1977 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. His birth name/full name is Geoff James Nugent. There is no information as to his parents’ names, but we do know that his father worked as a cabinetmaker and maintenance worker while his mother was a substitute teacher. 

He was raised by his parents alongside his two siblings, brothers Daniel Nugent and Scott Nugent.

Jim Jefferies completed his schooling in Sydney, where he also grew up. He then moved to Perth and attended the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. After graduating with his degree, he moved to Sydney and later to the United Kingdom.

His ethnicity is Irish.

Jim Jefferies was in a relationship with girlfriend Kate Luyben, an actress. Although they are not married, they do have a son together named Hank Jefferies, born on November 7, 2012. The pair eventually went their separate ways.

He began dating actress Taise Lawrence. The couple eventually married in September 2020. With his wife, he has a child, a son named Charlie Jefferies. There is no news of divorce surrounding the pair.

Jim Jefferies – Career

Early career

Jefferies first started small and slowly grew into it. His stand-up was short-form jokes, which he later enlarged to hour-long sets. He had a bad experience in 2007 when he was attacked onstage while performing at the Manchester Comedy Store.

Finally, in 2009, he had his breakthrough moment. He was cast in the HBO special, I Swear to God, opening doors for him and furthered his career.

Jefferies’ stand-up special/albums include Hell Bound (2008), Contraband (2008), I Swear to God (2009), Alcoholocaust (2010), Fully Functional (2012), Bare (2014), Freedumb (2016), and This Is Me Now (2018). This Is Me Now aired on Netflix as well. He also hosted the Jim and Eddie Talkin' Shit podcast, but had to quit due to his busy schedule.

Over the years, Jim Jefferies has starred in The Last Chancers (2004), Comedy Cuts (2007), Tainted Love (2013), Legit, Bad Judge, The Librarians, and Not Safe with Nikki Glaser (2016). In addition, he is the host, creator, writer, and executive producer of The Jim Jefferies Show, which premiered on March 3, 2017.

The terrific Television host has starred in movies too - Me and My Mates vs the Zombie Apocalypse (2014), Punching Henry (2016), and Killing Hasselhoff (2017).
