Ken Jennings is a game show contestant, computer scientist, author by profession, and American by nationality. He is best known for winning the U.S. game show Jeopardy! 74 times and is the second-highest-earning American game show contestant of all time.

He also holds the record for the longest winning streak on the U.S. game show Jeopardy!.

Ken Jennings’ birth took place on May 23, 1974, in Edmonds, Washington, USA. He was born Kenneth Wayne Jennings III to his father Kenneth Wayne Jennings II, while the name of his mother is not known. Also, the details of his siblings are not available.

His family lived in Seoul, South Korea, from 1981 to 1992 and in Singapore from 1992 to 1996, where his father worked as an attorney and then as Asia Pacific Division Counsel of Oracle Corporation. Growing up, he used to watch Jeopardy! after school every afternoon.

For education, Ken Jennings attended the Seoul Foreign School. In 1996, he went on to join Brigham Young University, from where he graduated with a degree in Computer Science and English. He also studied at the University of Washington during his freshman year.

In Jeopardy!

Before 2003, Jeopardy! contestants were limited to five consecutive games, but the rules changed in 2003, at the beginning of the show's 20th season.

Before Jeopardy!, Ken Jennings was a member of BYU's Quiz Bowl Team. He was working as a software engineer for a Salt Lake City healthcare staffing company.

Jennings came on the show Jeopardy!, hosted by Alex Trebek, as a contestant in the 20th season whose first episode aired on June 2, 2004. On November 30, 2004, Ken Jennings’ winning streak was the winner of Jeopardy! ended when he lost his 75th game to challenger Nancy Zerg, having won over $2.5 million total.

On December 28, 2004, Sony announced Jeopardy! Ultimate Tournament of Champions, a 15-week, 75-show event that featured Tournament of Champions, College Championship, and Teen Tournament winners from the show's 21 seasons, as well as over 100 five-time champions.

However, Ken Jennings did not win the competition as  Brad Rutter defeated both Jennings and Jerome Vered. Jennings’s final score was $34,599, while Rutter and Vered’s scores were $62,000 and $20,600, respectively.

For finishing in second place, he won the $500,000 prize. Since then, he has appeared on Jeopardy! Battle of the Decades (2014), Jeopardy! All-Star Games (2019), etc.

After Alex Trebek's death, Ken Jennings began co-hosting Jeopardy! with fellow co-host Mayim Bialik.
