Linda Hamilton is an actress by profession and an American by nationality. She is best known as Sarah Connor in The Terminator and as Catherine Chandler in Beauty and the Beast.

Linda Hamilton’s birth took place on September 26, 1956, in Salisbury, Maryland, USA. She was born as Linda Carroll Hamilton to father Carroll Stanford Hamilton, a physician, and mother Barbara K. Holt. After her father passed away when she was five, her mother married a police chief.

Hamilton is not the only child of her parents and has three siblings- identical twin sister Leslie Hamilton Gearren, older sister Laura Hamilton and younger brother Ford Hamilton. Her twin died in August 2020 at the age of 63.

For education, Linda Hamilton attended Wicomico Junior High and went on to Wicomico High School. After graduation, she attended Washington College for two years before moving to New York City to study acting. There, she attended workshops given by Lee Strasberg.

Linda Hamilton married her longtime boyfriend Bruce Abbott on 19 December 1982. The couple’s son, Dalton Abbott, was born on October 4, 1989. After 7 years of marriage, she and her husband divorced on 28 December 1989.

Hamilton married her second husband, James Cameron, on 26 July 1997. The couple welcomed daughter Josephine Cameron on February 15, 1993. This marriage too ended in divorce almost two years later, on 16 December 1999.

She is currently single, and in a September 2019 interview with The New York Times, she revealed that she has been celibate for at least 15 years.

Linda Hamilton started her professional career as an actress in 1980 with a minor role in an episode of the TV series Shirley. This was followed by roles in films, Tag: The Assassination Game (1982), Children of the Corn (1984), The Stone Boy (1984), and in the TV series Reunion (1980), Secrets of Midland Heights (1980-1981), King's Crossing (1982).
