Madison Vandenburg is one of the strongest contestants in season 17 of American Idol. She rose to fame with her American Idol audition by singing the song Speechless by music duo Dan and Shay.

Madison Vandenburg’s birth took place on December 9, 2001. She was born in Latham, New York, United States.

Her father, Skip Vandenberg, is the owner of a restaurant in Latham, New York, named Philly’s Bar and Grill, and is also her manager. Her mother, Denine O’Connor, has a serious traumatic fear of flying and couldn't take an entire month off to drive to L.A. from New York to support Madison Vandenburg. However, Denine does support her daughter through FaceTime, phone calls, and text messages.

Madison Vandenburg is not the only child of her parents and has two siblings, a younger sister named Chloe O’Conner and a younger brother, Clayton O’Conner.

Early Career

Madison Vandenburg has been training in elite musical groups where she has been learning to sing, and play guitar as well as piano. At the age of 10, while she was playing karaoke, she realized she was really good at it. So, she started to sing seriously.

Next year, in the sixth grade, she was cast as the eponymous lead in the school musical production of Annie, where she realized that she loved to perform, and the audience's reaction gave her energy.

She also performed at her father's restaurant, learning the music business all the way. Her bio continues, “She loved the hard work and dedication that came along with performing, and discovered that music is what she was born to do.”

Vandenburg released her first single Reason in June 2019.

She released her debut single Need A Little Heartbreak in June 2018.  Even though she is busy with competition and school, she still makes time to work on her songs for her very first EP. She released her first EP love n war in 2023.
