Maren Morris is a singer, songwriter, and record producer by profession and an American by nationality. She is well known for her single My Church which won her a 2016 Grammy Award.

Maren Morris’ birth took place on April 10, 1990, in Arlington, Texas, USA. She was born Maren Larae Morris to her father, Greg Morris, and her mother, Kellie Morris. She is not the only child of her parents and has a sibling, a younger sister named Karsen Morris.

Maren Morris married her longtime boyfriend Ryan Hurd on March 24, 2018, in Nashville, Tennessee. Hurd is also a country singer, and they had first met in a co-write in 2013. They had begun dating in December 2015 and had gotten engaged in July 2017. 

In March 2020, the couple welcomed their son Hayes Andrew Hurd. She and her husband divorced in 2024.

Maren Morris – Career

Before Fame

Maren Morris spent most of her time in a hair salon owned by her parents. And at the age of 12, she was gifted a guitar by her father. As she learned to play the guitar, she fell in love with it.

Her debut studio album, Walk On, was released in June 2005, followed by All That It Takes in September 2007, and Live Wire in 2011. But her albums did not gain her deserved attention.

EP, breakthrough

In August 2015, Maren Morris released an extended play (EP) on Spotify, which helped her to gain a decent amount of fans and also landed a contract with Columbia Nashville in September 2015. With the label, she released a five-song EP including her hit lead single My Church.

The EP charted on two Billboard charts, number one on the Top Heatseekers chart, and number 27 on the Country Albums chart. The single My Church reached number five on the Hot Country Songs chart and was certified Gold by the RIAA.

Since then, she has released two albums - Hero (2016) and Girl (2019). In March 2019, it was announced that, along with Brandi Carlile and Amanda Shires, Maren Morris would be forming a supergroup called Highwomen.

Moreover, as a songwriter, Maren Morrish has over 21 writing credits, including Out for Love, Clint Eastwood, Greener Pastures, Last Turn Home, etc.

She has had two tours- 2017’s The Hero Tour and 2019’s GIRL: The World Tour and has opened tours for Keith Urban,  Sam Hunt, and Niall Horan.
