Megan Thee Stallion’s birth took place on February 15, 1995, in Houston, Texas, USA. She was born Megan Pete to her mother, Holly Thomas, and her father, Joseph Pete Jr. Her mother passed away in March 2019 due to a brain tumor used to rap under the name Holly-Wood.

Pre-fame

Megan Pete began writing her own rap at the age of 14. And when she told her mother that she, too, wanted to be a rapper, her mother replied that she had to until she was 21 to pursue rapping as a career.

In 2013, while a student at Prairie View A&M University, a video where Megan Thee Stallion was battling against male opponents in a cipher went viral. It helped her gain followers on social media and soon gathered a massive following.

Pete adopted Megan Thee Stallion as a stage name, a nickname she had gained in her teens due to her height and beauty.

In 2016, Pete released her first mixtape titled Rich Ratchet, followed by the release of EP Make It Hot in 2017. The same year in 2017, Megan Thee Stallion went on to release a video titled Stalli (Freestyle), a rework of XXXTentacion's Look At Me!

In November 2018, Megan Thee Stallion announced that has signed with 300 Entertainment, making her the first female rapper to be signed by the label. In 2019, she released the single Big Ole Freak from the EP Tina Snow, also making an official video.

As of April 15th, 2019, Pete’s song Big Ole Freak reached number 99 on Billboard Hot 100. Her first full-length album, Fever, was released on May 17, 2019.

Megan Thee Stallion -  Shooting incident

In July 2020, it was reported that Tory Lanez had shot Megan while she was trying to leave. The police were called, and Lanez was arrested for gun possession charges while Megan confirmed that she had suffered gunshot wounds.

The rapper publicly accused Tory Lanez of shooting her in August 2020, telling him to "stop lying."
