Merritt Wever’s birth took place on August 11, 1980, in Manhattan, New York City, USA. She was born as Merritt Carmen Wever to her mother, Georgia Wever, and was conceived via a sperm donor (biological father). She was raised as an only child by her single mother to be politically progressive.

For education, Merritt Wever studied and graduated from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and went on to study at Sarah Lawrence College. She later trained in acting in New York.

She has starred in films The Hairy Bird (1998), Signs (2002), 12 and Holding (2005), Righteous Kill (2008), The Messenger (2009), Tiny Furniture (2010), Birdman (2014), Meadowland (2015), Charlie Says (2018), and Marriage Story (2019).
