Who is Nasim Pedrad?

Nasim Pedrad is an actress and comedian by profession, and an American of Iranian descent. She is best known for her work as a cast member on Saturday Night Live (SNL) and for starring in the sitcoms Mulaney, Scream Queens, People of Earth, and New Girl.

Nasim Pedrad – Birth, Parents, Siblings

Nasim Pedrad’s birth took place on November 18, 1981, in Tehran, Iran. She was born to her mother, Arasteh Amani, and her father, Parviz Pedrad. When she was two years old, her mother took her to Germany, where they lived for a year, waiting for US visas. Finally, when she was three years old, she reunited with her father in the United States.

She is not the only child of her parents and has a younger sibling, a sister named Nina Pedrad, who is now a comedy writer. Both were raised in Irvine, California, and had attended University High School.

After graduation, Nasim Pedrad went on to study at the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television. She graduated from there in 2003 with a BA in Theater.

Her ethnicity is Iranian.

Nasim Pedrad – Boyfriend, Husband, Children

Despite staying in the spotlight for over a decade, her relationship and boyfriends, both past and present, are still not known. She has never been known to date anyone. However, in 2021, there have been rumors that she is dating American actor Lamorne Morris.

Nasim Pedrad has never married and is sans husband and children. As she has never married, divorce is out of the question.

Nasim Pedrad – Career

Before fame

In the wake of her career, Nasim Pedrad was a performer at The Groundlings, a sketch comedy troupe based in Los Angeles. Her one-woman show Me, Myself & Iran, in which she frequently performed, was selected for the 2007 HBO Comedy Festival in Las Vegas.

Films, TV series

Since 2007, Nasim Pedrad has had appearances in Gilmore Girls,  The Winner,  ER, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2009). The same year in 2009, she joined the cast of Saturday Night Live (SNL) as a featured player. 

Comedian Tina Fey had urged her to audition for SNL. In the 2011–12 season, she became a repertory player on the show. In 2014, Pedrad left SNL and joined the cast of the sitcom Mulaney, which was canceled the same year. 

She has also been credited for her work in Allen Gregory,  No Strings Attached (2011), The Lorax (2012), The Dictator (2012), and Despicable Me 2 (2013).

Her more recent roles are in the TV series New Girl (2015-2018), Scream Queens (2015),  People of Earth (2017), Curb Your Enthusiasm (2017), Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2017), Chad (2021-2024), and in the films Corporate Animals (2019) and Aladdin (2019), Desperados (2020).

While on SNL, Pedrad has been professionally associated with Tony Rosato, Pamela Stephenson, Morwenna Banks, and Horatio Sanz.
