Tami Roman’s birth took place on April 17, 1970, in Mount Vernon, New York, USA. She was born Tamisha Akbar to African American mother Nadine Buford and a Puerto Rican father, who left the family when Nadine got pregnant with Tami.
Roman was raised by her single mother (parent) in White Plains, New York. She does not have any siblings and is an only child.

She married her boyfriend of four years, Reggie Youngblood, on 17 August 2018 in Las Vegas in secret. On July 30, 2018, she admitted that she had miscarried the baby she was going to have with Youngblood.

Before Fame
Roman’s professional career began in 1993 when she was cast on the second season of MTV's hit reality show The Real World: Los Angeles. Tami Roman was the first person to have an abortion on reality television during the season.

This was followed by appearances in the TV series Married... with Children (1993), Silk Stalkings (1994), The Parkers (2000), Sex, Love & Secrets (2005), and Moonlight (2008).
In 2010, she was cast in the reality TV series Basketball Wives. She starred in the series until it ended in 2013. In 2017, Basketball Wives was revived, and Tami Roman returned to the cast. Roman has also acted in the TV series Belle's (2013), Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars (2015), Basketball Wives LA (2015-2016), Tales (2017), and The Family Business (2018), among others.
