Who is NBA YoungBoy?

YoungBoy Never Broke Again, who was previously known as NBA YoungBoy, is an African-American rapper with growing fame. 

YoungBoy Never Broke Again – Birth, Parents, Siblings

YoungBoy Never Broke Again, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, was born on October 20, 1999, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA. His father, Kentrell Gaulden Sr., is a convicted felon who was sentenced to 55 years in prison, while his mother, Sherhonda Gaulden, worked hard to support him.

YoungBoy was mainly raised by his maternal grandmother. While still a toddler, he broke his neck while wrestling. The injury required him to wear a head brace until the spine healed. Thus, the head brace left three permanent dimpled scars on his forehead.

He is not the only child of his parents and has multiple siblings- sister Telee Gaulden and brother Ken Gaulden.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again did not graduate from high school but rather dropped out in ninth grade. He told his mother that he wanted to pursue a career in music and rap. He created a YouTube channel, DAVID G, and began posting his music on YouTube.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again has never been married but is the father of at least 12 children. Currently, he has biological children with seven different women. His kids are named Kayden Gaulden, Kamron Gaulden, Taylin Gaulden, Kamiri Gaulden, Kacey Alexander Gaulden, Armani Gaulden, Kodi Gaulden, and Kentrell Gaulden Jr.

As for his girlfriend, he was in a relationship with social media star Jania Bania. The two broke up in mid-2018 after he physically assaulted her. He was in a relationship with Kay Marie, who was shot near Trump Beach Resort on May 12, 2019.

Since then, he has been in a series of relationships and is reluctant to talk about them publicly.

He began dating Instagram model and vlogger Jazlyn Mychelle in 2020. They welcomed a daughter named Alice Gaulden soon after, and in September 2022, it was reported that the couple is expecting a second child together- the ninth child for the rapper. Moreover, it was confirmed in May 2022 that they are engaged to be married. They married in 2023.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again – Career

Early Career

While at the detention center, YoungBoy began writing lyrics for his debut album. After getting released from the center, he went back home to his grandmother. Unfortunately, his grandmother passed away due to a heart attack. So, NBA YoungBoy moved in with his friend, NBA 3Three (a.k.a. OG 3Three), who is a rapper. 

The wannabe rappers teamed up in acts of crime to pay for studio time. In 2015, he released his first mixtape titled Life Before Fame, which was followed by mixtapes namely, Mind of a Menace, Mind of a Menace 2, and Before I Go.

In October 2016, YoungBoy Never Broke Again released yet another mixtape titled 38 Baby. It had songs featuring Boosie Badazz, Kevin Gates, Stroke Tha Don, and NBA 3Three. This gained him an increasing attraction. Only 3 weeks later, on November 7, 2016, he released another mixtape, Mind of a Menace. Some of the tracks even included death threats to rapper Scotty Cain, dating back to the feud they had in December 2015.

Albums, EPs

No real violence ever occurred between the two rappers, but the threats did gain them much-desired attention. While at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, he released two mixtapes- Before I Go: Reloaded and Mind of a Menace 3: Reloaded. After his release from prison in August 2017, he released a single, Untouchable.

As his career exploded, his first music video for his song 41 was released in July 2017. It featured artists like Meek Mill, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Boosie Badazz, and Yo Gotti. The next mixtape of his, titled A.I. YoungBoy, climbed up to 24^th position on the Billboard 200. Other tracks of his also peaked on the charts. 

On April 27, 2018, YoungBoy Never Broke Again released his debut studio album Until Death Call My Name. Earlier on January 6, 2018, he released the single Outside Today. The song peaked at number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100. His other two albums of his are YoungBoy Never Broke Again: I Came Thru (2018) and YoungBoy Never Broke Again: Valuable Pain (2018).

YoungBoy Never Broke Again – Legal Issues

Soon after dropping out of school, NBA YoungBoy was arrested for robbery. He was sent to a detention center in Tallulah, Louisiana.

YoungBoy was arrested for the second time in December 2016 as a suspect of attempted first-degree murder. He was jailed in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana. He was released in August 2017. On August 23, 2018, YoungBoy Never Broke Again was sentenced to a suspended 10-year prison term and 3 years of active probation for the drive-by shooting that had occurred in 2016.

He was again arrested on February 25, 2018, for assault, weapons violations, and kidnapping. Footage of his assaulting his then-girlfriend, Jania, was also released. On March 15, 2018, YoungBoy was released from prison on $75,000 bail.
