Eric Dane’s daughter turned 16 just days after actor’s death – celebrates birthday

Rebecca Gayheart, the widow of actor Eric Dane, took to Instagram to celebrate their eldest daughter’s 16^th birthday.

She wished their eldest daughter alongside a picture of Billie as a toddler.

“Happy Sweet 16 to the sweetest girl — mommy loves you to the moon and back unconditionally forever and ever,” she captioned the post.

The post included pictures of the family – Gayheart, Dane, Billie, and the youngest family member, Georgia.

The actress paid tribute to her daughter just days after her husband passed away.

Actor Eric Dane, best known for his work in TV dramas Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, died following a short battle with ALS on February 19, 2026. He was 53.

The Dane family released a statement at the time, “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS. Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight.”

His death certificate revealed he had died of respiratory failure with an underlying cause of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart were married in 2004. They welcomed Billie Beatrice Dane in March 2010 and Georgia Geraldine Dane in December 2011. The pair separated and filed for divorce in 2018. However, following Eric’s diagnosis, they called off their divorce.

Although the pair remained married, Dane dated Priya Jain and Janelle Shirtcliff while Gayheart was romantically linked to Peter Morton.

During a podcast interview, the Jawbreaker actress revealed why she called off their divorce.

“We tell them [daughters], ‘We show up for people no matter what. He is our family. He is your father.”

Dane posthumously shared his final words to his children in a heart-wrenching episode of Netflix’s “Famous Last Words.”

“I tried. I stumbled sometimes, but I tried,” he said. “Overall, we had a blast, didn’t we?,” Dane said.
