Jason Pierre-Paul is an American football outside linebacker who plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL). He has previously played for the New York Giants and, with the team, has won Super Bowl XLVI.

Jason Pierre-Paul’s birth took place on January 1, 1989, in Deerfield Beach, Florida, USA. He was born Jason Andrew Pierre-Paul to his mother, Marie Pierre-Paul, and his father, Jean Pierre-Paul. Both of his parents are Haitian immigrants who moved to the United States in 1983.

He was raised in Florida along with his two siblings, sisters Nadie Pierre-Paul and Herbie Pierre-Paul. Shortly after he was born, his father began losing his sight and was soon completely blind. His mother had to work several cleaning jobs to keep the family afloat.

Jason Pierre-Paul – Career

Before NFL

While at College of the Canyons, Jason Pierre-Paul tallied 51 tackles and 19 tackles for a loss, 14 sacks, and also was able to earn First-team All-WSC and All-America honors.

In 2008, he played for Fort Scott Community College, where he had 70 tackles, 10.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries, which earned him First-Team Little All-American honors.

Jason Pierre-Paul played in the University of South Florida football team in 2009, where he had 45 tackles, 6.5 sacks, one interception, broke up three passes, and forced two fumbles. There, he earned Defensive Lineman Performer of the Week in the College Performance Awards and was named First-team All-America by Pro Football Weekly.

Professional career

In 2010, Pierre-Paul decided not to go with his senior season and instead entered the 2010 NFL Draft. He was drafted by the New York Giants in the first round with the 15th overall pick. Jason Pierre-Paul signed a five-year $20.05 million and $11.629 million guaranteed contract with the team on July 31, 2010.

His NFL debut was on September 12, 2010, with the New York Giants, and he finished the season playing a total of 16 games, totaling 24 solo tackles and recording 4.5 sacks. He played for the Giants from 2011 to 2017 season and played against the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, etc.

The New York Giants placed the franchise tag on Pierre-Paul twice, once on March 3, 2015, and again on February 27, 2017. On March 17, 2017, Pierre-Paul signed a four-year, $62 million and $40 million guaranteed contract with the New York Giants. With the Giants, he has made Pro Bowls and won Super Bowl XLVI.

On March 22, 2018, Jason Pierre-Paul was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2018 NFL Draft and is currently an outside linebacker for the team.

Jason Pierre-Paul – Injuries, accident

Pierre-Paul has had many injuries throughout his career in the NFL, which have affected his play. In 2015, he sustained a serious hand injury in a fireworks accident at his home, which resulted in his index finger being amputated just four days later.

Before the 2016 season, he had another surgery on his hand and another surgery for a sports hernia. In May 2019, Jason Pierre-Paul was involved in a single-car accident in Florida and suffered a neck fracture. It was reported that the accident might cost him the entire 2019 season.
